Check out the Horror version of ‘ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW’ in ‘MISSING IN THE MANSION’

Odds are that if you are reading this site, you dig films and probably don’t limit yourself to just horror and cult cinema. As of yesterday, if you have been reading about Sundance, you may have heard about a film called Escape from Tomorrow, which was filmed for the most part inside Walt Disney World and Disneyland without permission from Disney. The making of the film sounds like a covert Blair Witch Project operation that just needs to be read to be believed. You can read an excellent piece via the Los Angeles Times here for more background information on Escape from Tomorrow.

I have some doubts that we will ever see the film that premiered at Sundance so may I whet your appetite with a horror found footage version filmed within a Disney park? Last Halloween, the short found footage film Missing in the Mansion, tells the story of a marriage proposal in Disneyland gone horribly wrong inside the Disney attraction The Haunted Mansion. I’ve always been a fan of The Haunted Mansion and this was right up my alley. It is definitely worth a watch as it is only about 12 minutes.

Not a bad little short if you ask me. Missing in the Mansion was directed by Josh Daws & Jeremiah Daws. The movie has its own website that you can check out at missinginthemansion.com. It was virally promoted through a popular Disney fan site Inside the Magic. If you are curious how they pulled it off, the filmmakers answer a lot of the questions via this video:

In addition to his role on the site, he also programs St. Louis' monthly horror & exploitation theatrical midnight program, Late Nite Grindhouse. Coming from a household of a sci-fi father and a horror/supernatural loving mother, Andy's path to loving genre film was clear. He misses VHS and his personal Saturday night 6 tape movie marathons from his youth.
