Cure Your Post Halloween Blues with TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE!
Tales from Beyond the Pale – “Audio Plays for a Digital Age” – is the horror radio show brainchild of Glass Eye Pix founder / producer Larry Fessenden and writer / director Glenn McQuaid (I Sell The Dead). The show is inspired by the old time radio classics of Alfred Hitchcock, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, and Orson Welles which utilized creatively constructed spooky sound effects to compliment their haunted tales of the supernatural and macabre. A new installment is available every week through their website for just $1.99 (paypal or credit card)! iTunes availability and iPad app forthcoming.
There are currently two episodes waiting to haunt your earphones, the first of which debuted on October 26th. Not only was the logo designed by Rue Morgue Magazine’s very own award winning artist Ghoulish Gary Pullin, but each week’s episode will feature a unique poster from Ghoulish Gary as well. Based on their shop page it looks like these beautifully designed posters will be available as collectible postcards very soon. And there will be patches, t-shirts, and buttons as well!
The first episode, Man on the Ledge, is by director Joe Maggio (Bitter Feast). The story is reminiscent of The Twilight Zone where nothing is as it seems and there are plot twists to keep you guessing right to the end. There is a lingering nostalgia when you listen to a Tales from Beyond the Pale show although it is unmistakeably fresh and modern. Contributors of subsequent shows include Paul Solet (Grace), Sarah Langan (author of The Keeping and The Missing), JT Petty (The Burrowers), and others. This is a fantastic labor of love from great genre talents who want to bring a unique and exciting experience to fellow horror fans. This is a MUST for fans of audio books and old time radio storytelling, but a show that any horror fan will love and everyone should check out. Go to the Tales from Beyond the Pale website to hear these chilling tales!
