Turkish Horror Film, BASKIN, Gets a Trailer!
I love short films and two years ago, I was in a short film block at Fantastic Fest. Sadly, it was in the middle of the festival and I fell asleep through two short films. One of which was Baskin. I remember the beginning of the short and waking up to what I could best describe as gooey, slimy, bloody anarchy on the screen. It was jarring. Rumors were circulating around that the short film would be developed into a feature-length film. It looks like the rumors were true. Ahead of its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, Baskin (which always reminds me of Joshua Baskin from Big) has a trailer that feels like a recollection of the nightmarish images I woke up to in that Alamo Drafthouse auditorium.
Five cops working the graveyard shift in the middle of nowhere are dispatched to investigate a disturbance. Isolated and without back-up, they find themselves confronting a labyrinthine ruin. Pushing ever further into the depths of the lair, it becomes clear they have stumbled into the darkest pits of a terrible evil… a squalid and blood-soaked den of ritual led by The Father – the master of all their nightmares – who will plunge them ever deeper down the rabbit hole and into the very mouth of madness.
This film is on our list of films to check out at this year’s Fantastic Fest. Look for a review in the next few weeks.
