Enter The ‘SANITARIUM’ With This New Red-Band Trailer

Over the past few years, horror fans have seen a resurgence of two former trends in the genre come back in a very big way: horror returning to television and anthology horror.  Just this month alone we were treated to both with the return of The Walking Dead as well as the gory alphabet anthology The ABC’s of Death (which you can hear Andy and I review HERE).  Later this year we will see V/H/S/2 – formerly S-VHS – arrive in theaters and VOD, but prior to that, The Miami International Film Festival will premiere the next helping of horror shorts in the anthology Sanitarium.  Malcolm McDowell leads a cast consisting of Robert Englund, Lacey Chabert, Lou Diamond Phillips, John Glover, and Walter Perez in three psychological stories directed by Kerry Valderama, Bryan Ortiz (both of whom worked on Doctor S Battled the Sex-Crazed Reefer Zombies: The Movie), and Bryan Ramirez.  Aside from a few hints at some of the creepy thoughts that may be fluttering about in the heads of the patients, not a lot can be gathered from this new red-band trailer regarding the plot.  If you thought Sideshow Bob was creepy in The Simpsons, wait until you see one of the characters in this trailer; imagine a meth addicted version of that character and you’re almost there.  Check out the trailer below.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
