Dead or Alive, the 2014 ‘ROBOCOP’ Trailer is Here
Robocop in the new film, what is he? Who is he? Yeah…I’m not sure. Fanboys are ready to tear this film apart and the new trailer that was released isn’t going to be doing the production any favors. While the cast is impressive and the director is someone that I think could do a re-imagining of Robocop justice, even after this trailer, it is too hard to tell whether a good film is here or not.

The trailer doesn’t do anything to dispel any of the hate among the fanboys. Instead, it ignores them and tries to sell a film to everyone else. The problem is, you are not dealing with a obscure or little known film, everyone knows Robocop. Sure, I guess there is a chance that kids born in 2000 might not know about the Verhoeven film, or the cartoon, or the sequels, or the toys, but that’s pushing it. What’s worse is that add in a line from the original 1987 film to try and throw a bone to the fans. One thing looks to be certain, it will not have as much violence as Verhoeven’s film.
Robocop stars Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Gary Oldman. The film is directed by José Padilha, who did the excellent Elite Squad films. The only hope I have for this film is based on Padilha’s Elite Squad films which mix action and political drama exceptionally well.
Robocop hits theaters February 7, 2014.
