Cianfrance’s ‘THE PLACE BEHIND THE PINES’ Trailer is Released

I was a huge fan of Derek Cianfrance’s heart punishing film Blue Valentine and truly believe that while Michelle Williams deserved the Academy Award nomination that Ryan Gosling deserved one as well. Sadly, Gosling didn’t get any such Oscar nomination for his remarkable performance in that film. After watching the trailer for Cianfrance’s new film The Place Behind the Pines, maybe he will get that shot. The film also stars Bradley Cooper (a move that I thought was questionable until I saw Silver Linings Playbook), Ray Liotta and Rose Byrne.

The film powerfully explores the consequences of motorcycle rider Luke’s (Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling) fateful decision to commit a crime to support his child. The incident renders him targeted by policeman Avery (Golden Globe Award nominee Bradley Cooper), and the two men become locked on a tense collision course which will have a devastating impact on both of their families in the years following.
