Your Day in ‘DETENTION’ Will be Filled With a New Poster, Images, and a New Trailer

It isn’t long into this new trailer where you will decide whether or not the upcoming teen slasher Detention is the right kind of film for you.  In what looks like Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take (which for the record I actually like) on a steady diet of Red Bull and “nose-candy,” Detention provides a hyper induced comical trip into the high school world where the graduating senior class has one final assignment: survive a serial killer.  Directed by Joseph Kahn, who is known for directing one of Armond White’s favorite films, Torque, this upcoming horror film will finally see the light of day come April 13.  In no small part due to the film’s star Josh Hutcherson who is also currently in a little film out right now you may have heard of – The Hunger Games.  As mentioned above, we have a crop of stills, the poster, and new trailer for you below.  The film will be receiving a limited release on April 13 so check the official website for the film HERE to see if its playing in your city.

“Josh Hutcherson, Dane Cook, Shanley Caswell and Spencer Locke star in DETENTION, a hipster, teen horror-comedy where the local students of Grizzly Lake must survive their final year of high school. Standing in their way is Cinderhella, a slasher-movie killer who has seemingly come to life and is preying on the school’s student body. As the clock ticks and the bodies pile up, the likely suspects are embroiled in a race against time to stop Cinderhella and ultimately save the world… if only they can get out of detention.”

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
