Nothing brings me more joy than to see a well-deserved ORIGINAL horror get the proper distribution and release it should have. Horror fans put up with a lot of average to below-average studio drek each and every year. That is why I’m excited to announce that a fantastic little indie gem all the way from Australia will finally be getting a stateside release: The Loved Ones. Andy and I have been lucky enough to catch this film before this announcement. A full review will come as we get closer to its official release date. Suffice it to say that this will be a horror film to get excited for. It’s a dark, devilish, black-comedy that presents a twisted take on what happens when you refuse to go to the Prom with your admirer. Imagine Pretty In Pink with a lot more blood and a dash of David Lynch absurdity. She enlists Daddy’s help to throw a prom of her own where she is queen and Brent is king, whether he likes it or not. THE LOVED ONES is what happens when puppy love goes horribly, violently wrong. Brent should have said yes.
