The People have Spoken, ATTACK THE BLOCK Expands to Six More Cities

Opening in only a handful of cities this past weekend, Attack the Block was able to make more money per screen than the big Hollywood blockbusters it was competing against.  Bringing in an average of $17,200 per screen, Joe Cornish’s South London alien invasion film impressed critics and fans alike.  Five of the cities it will be expanding to this weekend will include Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas and Washington, D.C.  The fun part of this equation is that YOU will be able to pick the sixth.  How is that possible, you ask?  Keep reading to find out how you can vote on what will be the sixth city to be invaded by Attack the Block.

By logging onto your Facebook page (assuming you have one) and liking the movie’s page at the top, you will then have the oppurtunity to vote on one of cities listed below:

Philadelphia

Detroit

Miami

Houston

Phoenix

San Diego

Denver

Portland

Cleveland

Minneapolis

Voting stops on Friday, August 5th.  The city selected will then get to see the fantastic film when it opens in their city on Friday, August 19th.  As of right now, Phoenix is taking the lead, but you can change that with a click of the mouse. Head over to their Facebook page by clicking HERE.

As for the rest of us, hopefully it continues to gain momentum and spread to other cities!

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
