The new CONTAGION trailer Reveals a Deadly Virus and an Impressive Cast

Long rumored to be finally leaving the world of Hollywood, Steven Soderbergh is a director that will leave behind a successful career and many modern day classics in his over 20 year directing career.  1989’s Sex, Lies, and Videotape announced the arrival of a director who wasn’t afraid of taking risks.  Dabbling in more conventional Hollywood films such as Out of Sight, Traffic, and the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy, the reclusive director has also released just as many films outside of the box with a remake of the Russian classic Solaris, Bubble, and Che.  With Contagion, Soderbergh has combined his knack for acquiring amazing casts with the idea of an apocalyptic virus outbreak.  The result, as witnessed in the new trailer, looks to be a tense paranoia film that is one of my most anticipated films of the coming  fall.  Check it out after the break.

Starring Matt Damon , Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne (just to name a few people you may have heard of), Contagion is set to infect audiences on September 9, 2011

Contagion follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
