‘THE LORDS OF SALEM’ Gets an Official Release Date and a Novelization
Rob Zombie debuted his new film about a radio DJ haunted by witches at TIFF’s Midnight Madness this past year. His track record among critics and horror fans have been mixed over the years to say the least, and it looks like The Lords of Salem will continue this trend. Even after reading both positive and negative reviews from its debut earlier this year, I have to say I’m still extremely excited about this new direction that the director seems to be taking which is evident in the film’s trailer. We will finally get to see what side of the ratings spectrum the film falls on when Anchor Bay unveils the film next year. Fans of the rocker turned director will be able to see the film on April 26, 2013. That’s one day before my birthday; Happy Birthday to me! Unfortunately, it is not known as of yet if it will be a wide theatrical release or a limited one followed by a DVD/ Blu-ray release. Also worth noting is that The Lords of Salem will be getting a novelization from author B.K. Evenson (Aliens: No Exit). The book will hit shelves on March 12 through Grand Central Publishing. You can pre-order the book through the Amazon link below. I have included the synopsis and trailer for the film as well.
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’.
A myserious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, ’a gift from the Lords’. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.”
