The ‘DJANGO UNCHAINED’ Comic Book Hits Shelves a Week Before the Film
Fans of Quentin Tarantino are used to seeing his blood-soaked and stylized imagery on the big-screen. His films are remembered for their iconic visuals just as much as his darkly humorous dialogue. Due to the renewed interest in the comic book medium, it seems only fitting that the director’s work will be seen on the printed page as well.
Coming next month is the anticipated film and now comic Django Unchained. The book’s artwork comes from Scalped artist R.M. Guera. It seems to carry an even dirtier and grittier aesthetic than the film’s trailers have shown. Stark black shadows and shapes are set against brighter pastel coloring that gives the figures a nice pop. What fans of the director will be most excited about is that the comic will include scenes that are apparently cut from the theatrical version of the film. I wonder if they may include some more violent imagery.
The Django Unchained comic, which was first announced at Comic-Con this year, will get released on Wednesday December 19; one week before the film! The films hits theaters on Tuesday December 25. You can check out Jim Lee’s variant cover of issue #1 below along with a few panels from the upcoming comic.
