Teaser and Poster for Mike Flanagan’s ‘OCULUS’
Until recently very little has been known about Mike Flanagan’s next film, Oculus, but now more and more details are beginning to crop up, including a poster and a teaser trailer.
Originally screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, Oculus is now set for a U.S. release of April 11th from Relativity Media. Starring Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites as siblings who were left orphaned when their parents were murdered. The sister has maintained the idea into her adulthood that the culprit of the killings was a 300-year-old haunted mirror, and is set on proving it to her brother.
Since its premiere at TIFF, Oculus has received rave reviews and solidified status as one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, and I am definitely aboard the anticipation train. It sounded super creepy when I first heard about it, and the teaser has some cool imagery and a dark fairytale vibe, which I dig. I am not, however, big on the poster and hope that they will come out with an alternate one later.
You might be familiar with Flanagan’s unsettling 2011 film Absentia (which Michael & Andy talked about on the podcast previously). Either way, take a gander and give us your thoughts on your feelings towards his upcoming feature, which was originally based on Flanagan’s short of the same name back in 2006.
