RUSSELL CROWE IS NOW IN TALKS TO STAR IN ‘THE DARK TOWER’

A long time ago, we were given updates on the Stephen King movie and TV adaptations of his book series The Dark Tower. Originally it was all set to be released through Universal but the studio eventually passed on the project. The project consisted of three films and a TV series to tie all the films together. This is not the case now as Warner Bros. has taken over the project and has Ron Howard scheduled to serve as producer.  After looking over and rewriting the script for the first film Gunslinger, it looks like there are some other changes on the way as well.

The initial talks had spoke of Javier Bardem as the lead which I thought was a great find to play the role of Roland. Now talks have started with Russell Crowe to play the lead and I’m slightly disappointed by that. It’s nothing against Crowe, but when I think of the nights I spent reading the books, someone with the look of Bardem came to mind a ton easier than Crowe. No doubt that Crowe attached to the project will boost more of a mainstream spotlight on the project, but I just don’t know if it makes it better. No matter the case, let’s just get this going.  I hope Howard and crew are able to fulfill the whole planned concept because this Dark Tower fan can’t wait!

 The Dark Tower Series

 The series consists of 8 books (with this year’s release of The Wind Through the Keyhole), which follow gunslinger Roland Deschain in his quest to reach the Dark Tower: “The opening chapter in the epic Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, in a world where time has moved on, pursues his nemesis, The Man in Black, across a desert. Roland’s ultimate goal is the Dark Tower, the nexus of all universes. This mysterious icon’s power is failing, threatening everything in existence.
