One of the Directors of THE BLAIR WITCH returns to the woods to capture Bigfoot
The Blair Witch Project was a movie and cultural phenomenon that still exists as one of the most brilliant marketing campaigns ever for a film. Though both Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez have since gone on separately to direct films, none of their following projects have ever come close to matching the lightning in a bottle success they capture when they filmed the Blair Witch. Well, according to Bloody-Disgusting, Sanchez is ready to trek deep into the woods again to document a new group of kids. Exists is the upcoming film that will document “a group of twenty somethings who take a trip to a cabin deep in the wooded wilderness and are methodically hunted by a Bigfoot-like beast.” This Haxan Films and Amber Entertainment project is said to be ” the first in a trilogy exploring and reinventing the Bigfoot myth,” Sanchez said. “We all remember the terror of watching such classics as ‘The Legend of Boggy Creek,’ and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again.” Exists begins filming outside of Austin this October. No word yet on whether or not this will be a found-footage film. Personally, I’ve been getting a little burnt out on that style of film-making and would love to rather see a straight -forward monster/creature feature that doesn’t utilize the handheld style. Directors need to remember, The Thing and Jurassic Park were still scary and they didn’t need to have a shaky camera.
