It’s Official – THE WOODS is actually BLAIR WITCH
It’s funny. Sometimes your gut instinct is right but it might take a little while to reveal everything or it might take some time before you realize you are right. When the trailer for The Woods came out, I was excited because it was a new Adam Wingard/Simon Barrett film. Then, I started examining the trailer a bit more. There wasn’t much to it other than pull quotes – which was a bit odd for a film that still had 4 months until its release. I also started seeing mirror imagery – which is in the background of this trailer – and one image where the woods were in a circle. That image made me think…what if this is a Blair Witch Project reboot or sequel? I even brought it up on a podcast episode. I also noticed that the website was thewoods.movie, which most fans know was the original working title of The Blair Witch Project. I told myself that if it was a new entry into the Burkittsville lore, I wouldn’t think that Lionsgate would show it at San Diego Comic-Con.
Well, guess no more. The Woods is a new entry into the Blair Witch legend confirmed by Entertainment Weekly and it has now been revealed that the title is actually Blair Witch. Timed with the screening at Comic-Con, Lionsgate published a new trailer.
I’m a huge fan of The Blair Witch Project. It was one of the very few films that made my heart skip a beat. Closer to the release of this film on September 16, 2016, I’ll share with everyone some pictures from when I worked at a movie theater in 2000 and spearheaded a immersion promotion for Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows. So, what do you think. Did you figure it out before today?
