New ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer Swings Into Action

In what seems like a three-way chess match between three large comic-book properties, the studios behind The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and the Spider-Man reboot have attempted to one-up each other by releasing new material almost exactly after one another.   After Sunday’s short but impressive new look at The Avengers, you could bet one of the other two films would not be short behind with releasing new material for us to fanboys to ogle at.   The Amazing Spider-Man has had a lot of hurdles in its way when it comes to winning over audiences.  The first trailer with its lackluster approach and overly familiar feel (Sam Raimi’s first Spiderman film was released in 2002) did very little to build up people’s anticipation for the film.  Now, we have a new trailer that shows not only a lot more of a fast-paced feel of Marc Webb‘s film but gives us a healthy amount of action as well.  A couple of things that really makes me happy with this trailer: No where in this trailer do we see him get bit by the bug, see Uncle Ben die, or any blatant hints at his origin story.  I know the origin story aspect is going to be in the film (though I think it would have been better if they just avoided all that stuff together and just showed him in high-school again after it had happened).  Audiences have seen it and that’s not going to excite them to come out to this new reboot … I’m sorry … “untold story.” At any rate, I applaud them for cutting a fine trailer and have to say that I’m a little more excited about this film than I was before.  What are your thoughts?
