Listen To A Song Performed By Philip Glass From ‘STOKER’
Andy and I were lucky enough to see Park Chan-wook’s new thriller Stoker a few weeks ago. Look for a full review on the site as we get closer to the film’s release, but for now, I can reveal that I’m already looking forward to seeing it again when it gets released on March 1. The film’s haunting imagery is made all the more powerful by a score that rides the line between beautiful melodies to bone-chilling soundscapes. Clint Mansell (Requiem For A Dream) is behind the score but the recently released track from the film – which plays at a pivotal scene between Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode in the film – is actually a piano piece written by the legendary composer Philip Glass. Music scholars are quick to point out the impact that Glass has had on modern music and his skill for combining a modern approach with classical stylings. With the track embedded below you can see why. Listen to it for yourself and see if you aren’t moved by the display of emotions in this three minute composition.
