John Carpenter’s THE WARD Opens Its Doors Halfway

Besides a few stills and some mediocre reviews following the film’s showing at this past year’s Sitges Film Festival, John Carpenter has kept the doors locked up tight on his new film The Ward.  Because the film is hitting the UK January 21st, the studio has decided to release the first half of the trailer. Wait … what? Though the studio’s plan may seem confusing and pointless, I guess we will have to wait a bit longer till part two of the trailer is revealed (a cliffhanger!).  Beyond the break you can catch the trailer that features some cool music that is eerily similar to the music in Suspiria. Check it out.

The film starring Amber Heard has yet to receive a US release date. Hopefully that will change following the UK release of the film. Beside a pair of episodes for the Showtime series Masters of Horror, Carpenter has not sat in the director’s chair since 2001’s Ghosts of Mars.  I am sure I am not the only one who welcomes Carpenter’s return to horror.  I just hope his newest film is better than his last. You can visit The Ward’s official website by clicking here.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
