‘Dark Shadows’ will Rock-Out with Alice Cooper

Horror has a history of featuring rock icons in front of the camera.   One of music’s iconic shock rockers, Alice Cooper is returning to the screen in next year’s Dark Shadows. Cooper has previously appeared in John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness and Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, just to name a few of his occasional cameos.  According to the LA Times, Tim Burton will have Alice Cooper play himself, as a rocker who performs at a party hosted by Johnny Depp.  Since the film takes place in 1972, this seems very fitting.  From the LA Times:

Cooper plays himself in the film, which is set in 1972 – Depp’s character, the recently revived vampire Barnabas Collins, hires the rock star to play a private ball at his seaside home in Maine.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
