7th STREET Is a Creepy Place for a Stroll in New Poster

Brad Anderson made, what I find, to be one of the creepiest and most underrated horror films in the past 10 years with Session 9.  Using  minimal story but loads of atmosphere, Anderson gave us an abandoned mental institution that still permeates my nightmares.  He followed this haunted house flick with the acclaimed The Machinist starring Christian Bale and then the Hitchcockian train-ride Transsiberian.  His most recent scare-fest is Vanishing on 7th Street.  The Hayden Christensen, John Leguizamo, and Thandie Newton starring thriller first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this past September.  After months of little news, Magnet has finally released a creepy new poster for the film.

Magnet plans to release the film On Demand January 17th.  A limited theatrical run will follow.  You can check out the atmospheric poster below.  The official synopsis is below as well.

When a massive power outage plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, a disparate group of individuals find themselves alone. The entire city’s population has vanished into thin air, leaving behind heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. Soon the daylight begins to disappear completely, and as the survivors gather in an abandoned tavern, they realize the darkness is out to get them, and only their rapidly diminishing light sources can keep them safe.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
