Blu-ray Cover Art and Features Revealed for ‘THE SKIN I LIVE IN’
One of the more psychologically bizarre films to have come out in recent memory was Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In. In a lot of ways I’m quite surprised that the Academy failed to nominate it for an Oscar for “Best Foreign Film” at this morning’s announcement. Obviously a fan of Hitchcock’s Vertigo, Almodovar has crafted a psycho-sexual thriller that follows a mad-scientist and his captive test-patient as the details of their entanglement are slowly revealed. The Spanish filmmaker is known for his stunning imagery and beautiful use of color, but for horror fans, this is his first attempt at a true horror film. It’s definitely not your typical Hollywood jump-scare horror film, but it is certainly one that will get under your skin and have you thinking about it long after its final moments. It has at least for me. You can read my initial review HERE.
It has now been announced that the DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo will be released on March 6, 2012. Extras will include a “7-part Making of The Skin I Live In” featurette, “An Evening with Director Pedro Almodóvar Q&A,” and an “On The Red Carpet: New York Premiere” featurette. The package artwork is attached below.
