Late Nite Grindhouse Presents: ‘NIGHTBEAST’ & ‘MANDY’ Double Feature at Marcus Des Peres 14 on April 18 and 19

Our annual April tradition of showing Panos Cosmatos’s modern cult-classic in Mandy is here. The last film that Red Miller and Mandy Bloom get to watch in the film, courtesy of Channel 13, is 1982’s Nightbeast. Nightbeast is a real film made by ultra-cult low-budget filmmaker Don Dohler. It even features a score from then 16-year-old J.J. Abrams! It features limb dismemberment, lasers, and cops getting vaporized. You may have never seen a movie like Nightbeast and we’re proud to preface our screening of Mandy with it.

SYNOPSIS for NIGHTBEAST

A bloodthirsty visitor from outer space crashes his spaceship near the small town of Perry Hall and embarks on a gory rampage. Sheriff Jack Cinder has to coordinate an evacuation when the alien attacks.

SYNOPSIS for MANDY

In the Pacific Northwest in 1983, outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with deadly fire.

Andy Triefenbach is the Editor-in-Chief and owner of DestroytheBrain.com. In addition to his role on the site, he also programs St. Louis' monthly horror & exploitation theatrical midnight program, Late Nite Grindhouse. Coming from a household of a sci-fi father and a horror/supernatural loving mother, Andy's path to loving genre film was clear. He misses VHS and his personal Saturday night 6 tape movie marathons from his youth.
