‘The Chickening’ is the Most Insane ‘The Shining’ Parody You Will Ever See

I know that I’ve gone on record with saying that Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas has to be one of the best film festivals our country has to offer. Sadly, there is not enough time to catch all the films I wanted to see. One film was called Men & Chicken which starred Mads Mikkelsen. It was a comedy and that meant that it went down the priority pole when it came to covering the festival for a “horror-centric” website like Destroy the Brain. However, our contributor, Mike Hassler, saw it and told me that while he thought the movie was okay, the short that was before it seemed to steal the show. The short film that preceded Men & Chicken was something called The Chickening. Mike couldn’t explain what it was nor did I think he want to. He thought that I would get maximum enjoyment seeing the short not knowing a damn thing about it. He was right.

I did fortunately get to see it via our online library and I sat alone, in my office, and lost my freakin’ mind. If the above video didn’t make you laugh or chuckle, check your pulse.
