[Coffin Couture] DIY Horror Movie Themed Nail Art

Halloween might be months away, but that doesn’t mean that you actually need to wait until October to try out these horror-themed DIY manicures, like the Classic Movie Monster mani above. All you need are the right tools, some spare time, and a little inspiration.

Speaking of inspiration, here we have a manicured homage to one of cinemas most epic slashers, Jason Voorhees. The execution is difficult, but the results are clearly worth the work. The addition of Jigsaw, and the bloody nail tips, just up the creep-quota on this fashion do-it-right-now.

The Jason-themed “hockey mask” manicure tutorial is below.

Now onto what can only be described as a killer looking twist on our monster movie nail extravaganza, the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” manicure.

There are a few variations on the Nightmare nails out there, like this one featuring Freddie’s ugly mug, from Deviant artist, Madam Luck.

I’d be horribly remiss if I didn’t include zombie nail art in this post, so pictured above is one of the more artistic approaches to the undead manicure. Of course if you prefer to look as though you’ve been digging your way up from six feet under, click here to see a few choice NSFW zombie nail designs.

Since zombies are now part of the mainstream, it’s also become common to see blood splatter on everything from shower curtains to Nike Hi-Top’s. So why not your nails? Like with all of the designs I featured today, there are many different ways to do a blood-splatter manicure yourself (check it out with a black color base). But this one gets my vote for it’s “I’ve just been hacking up my ex-boyfriend”, realism. The complete tutorial follows.

And if that’s not enough inspiration for you to break out of your regular pretty-in-pink nail routine, here’s a link to a massive horror inspired nail art gallery over at Not Too Polished.
