Fincher’s Red-Band DRAGON TATTOO Trailer Leaks Online

The following red-band trailer of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo gives us a couple of things. One, our first look at the American version of the popular book series directed by David Fincher.  Two, a great cover of the Led Zeppelin song “Immigrant Song” by Trent Reznor and Karen O (from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Finally, some grimy and brutal images that show that this is not going to be some watered- down version of the book.  Apparently, European audiences have had the pleasure of experiencing this red-band trailer for about a week now while we have to enjoy it via this slightly out of focus bootleg version recorded from a theater.  What is most surprising is the fact that the trailer has been sweeping through the net like wildfire and the studio has yet to pull it.  I wonder if this is some kind of weird publicity for what the trailer labels as “The Feel Bad Movie Of Christmas.” I love that tagline! The film stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig as an odd couple of sorts who’s lives are thrown together to solve a missing person’s case that happened forty-two years ago.  They soon learn that the case is not an isolated incident and that the person involved has a history of other violent crimes towards women that still continue today.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is set to hit theaters December 21, 2011.  I, myself, could not be more excited. I love the source material and am excited about the chance of David Fincher exploring this dark and violent mystery.
