MGM wants to remake CARRIE

Does anyone else feel like MGM is just clamoring for money by remaking cult films from their library?  Let’s take a look, they remade Red Dawn which is still on the shelves and has no sign of release. Last week, we reported on the Straw Dogs remake.  Now, Carrie is the next stop.  Granted, it was remade back in 2002 as a TV movie with Angela Bettis in the Carrie role.  It was decent, but it was really Bettis’ show.  Read beyond the break to hear what playwright is involved and more info on the handling of the remake.

MGM and Screen Gems are partnering up for the new take on the Stephen King book and have hired Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to pen the new script.

Aguirre-Sacasa claims he wants to be more true to the book and he has worked on King’s The Stand Marvel comic.  One thing is for certain, no matter how many times they tell this tale, no one can seperate it from De Palma’s film.
