THE RAVEN Will Take Flight Through Relativity Media
Edgar Allan Poe is a name that brings to mind many dark and eerie images. The 19th century poet and writer is famous for his tales of death, mystery, and the macabre. Though there has been many films based around Poe’s short stories, few have tried to convey the character of Poe himself on the big-screen. This will all change with James McTeigue’s (V For Vendetta) new fictional film that captures the final days of the gothic writer. It was announced today that Relativity Media will be distributing The Raven here in the US. Read on to find out more about this interesting project starring John Cusack.
The Raven, starring Cusack as Poe, is a fictionalized account of the final days of gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe as he tracks a serial killer whose crimes mirror works by the famous author. Principal photography on The Raven began in November in Hungary, with a move to Serbia in December. Production wrapped in January. Relativity Media will handle the U.S. rights to market and distribute the Intrepid Pictures’ film.
“Edgar Allen Poe’s name is synonymous with legendary tales of suspense, and we love the idea of a thriller with Poe at its center, McTeigue at the helm and a talented cast bringing it all to life,” said Relativity’s President of Worldwide Production, Tucker Tooley.
There has been some preliminary photos that have surfaced, but a trailer has not been released as of yet. There is no word on the release date as well. One of these photos can be seen below. Check back in the future as this is a project that we will surely keep you up to date on.
