Magnet Nabs a HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN

Magnet Releasing has distributed some extremely memorable genre pictures in the past few years.  House of the Devil, Splinter, and Not Quite Hollywood,  were all welcomed with applause last year.  This year is no different for the child company of Magnolia Pictures.  This year Magnet has released Monsters, Centurion, Survival of the Dead, and [REC ] 2, just to name a few.  To add to their list of acclaimed genre films, they have added Hobo with a Shotgun.  Though the film will not see the light of day until the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Magnet will make sure that it receives a fitting distribution following the festival circuit next year. Read on for more details.

The Rutger Hauer starring exploitation film, first got attention when it won the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse fake trailer competition.  Jason Eisener, the director who won the competition, directed the feature as well.  The film follows Rutger Hauer as a homeless man in this low budget vigilante-style film.  If you want to catch Hobo with a Shotgun before Magnet releases the film in the U.S, you can catch it as part of the midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival on January 21.

Somewhere between growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning trips to the local comic-book shop, collecting an unhealthy amount of action figures, and frequent viewings of Ray Harryhausen and Hammer Horror films, came forth a nerdy boy that was torn between journalism and the arts. In high school, Michael found himself writing a movie column for the school newspaper. Yet, he went on to get a BFA in Studio Art at Webster University. When not writing about films, you can still find him discussing classic horror, collecting action figures, and reading Batman. Clearly, not much has changed.
