The Director of LAST EXORCISM Is Set to Direct Second “Night Chronicles”
“The Night Chronicles” are a series of films that will be produced based on ideas constructed by M. Night Shyamalan. As of right now, three films are set to be released. Granted, this could all change given the success (or failure) of each of the films. You most likely heard of the first of such films: Devil. Finishing the weekend with a little over 12 million and a #3 spot at the box-office this past weekend, Devil surprisingly didn’t do too bad. Apparently, it did well enough where the studios involved are definitely set to go ahead with the next one. Reincarnate is the title of the second feature from Shyamalan and Media Rights Capital. Though many rumors have been circulating that the next film would be a sequel-of-sorts to Unbreakable, this recent bit of news breaks that rumor apart. So what is this film about? Read on to “judge” for yourself.
Originally titled Twelve Strangers, the Daniel Stamm directed film will now be released as Reincarnate. Based on a script by Chris Sparling (who wrote the soon-to-be released Ryan Reynolds’ film Buried), the upcoming feature will be about “a jury haunted by supernatural forces while deciding the fate of an accused murderer.” So if Devil had five people stuck in an elevator, is Reincarnate going to be twelve people stuck in a jury room? The man is eventually going to run out of tight quarters to stick people in. At any rate … I honestly like jury/trial films, and I enjoyed what was done with Devil (you can read my review here). This could be very interesting given the writer and director involved. We will have to wait till next year to decide the ruling of this next entry.
