James Wan’s ‘THE CONJURING’ Gets a New Summer Release Date

In recent years, many horror films have been released in the month of January and have gone on to do quite well at the box-office.  Hostel did really well in the opening month of 2006 and that tradition has continued all the way up to this year’s The Devil Inside; which actually opened on the exact same date this past year.  January has been a hot-spot for horror films and 2013 looks to continue that trend with five horror themed movies . . . . wait  . . . scratch that.  Now, there’s only four released this coming January.  James Wan (Saw, Insidious) is a name many fans are well aware of even with just a small handful of films under his belt.  It looks like Warner Bros. has taken into account the leverage that the director’s name has earned over the years and has thus decided to push his next fright flick The Conjuring out of the already packed January month and into the July 19th slot.  That’s quite a major push to have a horror film open in the middle of summer.  And it seems that no one is more aware of this then the director himself.  He has taken to Twitter and expressed his excitement and apprehension about the shift.

so The Conjuring is getting the Dark Knights release-dates. wow. i don’t know how to feel.

The New York Comic-Con will play host to the very first footage seen from the film this Saturday and the director and star Patrick Wilson will be in attendance.  The Conjuring stars stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Foy, Joey King, Hayley McFarland and Shanley Caswell.  Again, The Conjuring now opens July 19, 2013.

SYNOPSIS
